Taraxa comes from Taraxacum, the Latin name for the dandelion. It is the most ordinary flower there is. It grows in cracks in the pavement, on roadsides, in fields nobody planted. It asks for nothing and it keeps coming back.

A dandelion lives two lives. First it is a bright yellow flower that opens with the sun. Then it turns into a white globe of seeds, and it lets them go. Each seed has its own small parachute and drifts wherever the wind takes it. The plant does not hold on to what it made. That is how it spreads.

People have always read meaning into that. In many cultures the dandelion stands for hope, for wishes, and for starting over. It is a symbol of resilience because you cannot really get rid of it, and of humility because nobody thinks of it as precious. Every part of it can be eaten or used, so it is also a symbol of giving.
